Upendra Magic Chalegakya - 'Super' On Friday!
One man curiously watched since two decades is Upendra – the master of tricks in his flicks ever since he became a director in ‘Tharle Nan Maga’. He built up curiosity in his direction of Sh…., Om, Swasthik, Operation Antha-II and suddenly acting in ‘A’ in 1998 in his direction he crated a trend. He showed what the people need and proved in the box office as the film ‘A’ made more than Rs.20 crores business in Karnataka. Again in a film of his own name ‘Upendra’ the sensation continued in the making but not in the breaking of records. Upendra put his entire effort in ‘H2O’ but he did not sit in the director chair for the controversial film – the bilingual on the century old Cauvery water issue sharing Upendra pointed both harmony between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu bringing a Siamese twins on the screen.
After ‘H2O’ Upendra made a sound only in commercial flicks as an actor – Kutumba, Gowramma, Raktha Kanneeru and a few films did well in the box office but most of the films as an actor he sunk. In adjacent Tamil and Telugu films he took villain roles and surprised.
The huge fans and media in Karnataka were asking him to return to direction. It is after 10 years Upendra given a nod to direction.
He did not name the film – he gave a symbol of point and thumb fingers closing and remaining three fingers up straight. That pointed to ‘Super’ by the fans and media.
The film ‘Super’ is now releasing on 3rd in a grand scale with nearly 95 theatres in Karnataka showing four shows a day. That means 380 shows per day of ‘Super’ in screened all over Karnataka. This is a trilingual film in Kannada, Telugu and Tamil.
The Telugu and Tamil versions of ‘Super’ is releasing two weeks after the Kannada version in Karnataka.
In Bengaluru and outskirts 35 theatres are showing ‘Super’. Upendra is with the south Indian fame Nayanthara and Bollywood beauty Tulip Joshi.
The fanfare for the film will be in mammoth style in Belgaluru and the Kempe Gowda Road the heart of film activities in Gandhinagar is sure to see traffic jam on Friday as Sagar theatre is screening ‘Super’.
This is the 25th film of prestigious production house Rockline Production house. Upendra has made gimmicks for the film right from the start of title. He sent invitation in the size of newspapers to all media persons early in the morning and shocked. He used the names all major English and Kannada newspapers in the 16 sheets newspaper size invitation.
With all such gimmicks expected from Upendra he did not divulge anything about his film so far. What is known is that ‘Super’ is a futuristic cinema. From the insider it was learnt what happens and how will it be an Indian over rule a foreign country. There is a dig at the politics today says the insiders.
V Harikrishna the No.1 music director has tuned five songs, talented Ashok Kashyap is the cameraman. Thirupathi Reddy is the editor, Chinni Prakash, Imran are the choreographers.
Upendra, V Manohar and Yogaraj Bhat have penned the songs. Shwetha, Sadhu Kokila, Ali, Jeeva are in the cast.
Will the ‘Super’ give a good supper to the audience! Friday lends the answer.
